On Friday, May 26th, 2023, Future Global Resources (FGR) Prestea/Bogoso Mine and the Bogoso Divisional Council held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Bogoso event center.
The project, known as the Bogoso Social Event Center, is being funded by the FGR Development Foundation Fund.
The architectural designs for the project indicate that once completed, the event center will feature a community center, a volleyball court, a car parking area, a multi-purpose court, a conference hall, a restaurant and bar, a children's playground, a mini supermarket, and caretaker's quarters.
During his speech at the ceremony, the acting general manager for FGR, Mr. Ken Allen, congratulated Chairman Osabirima Akwasi Somprey II, the divisional chief of Kokoase Bogoso, and his supporting sub-chiefs for their invaluable support in making the construction of the event center possible.
He praised Chairman Osabirima for not only providing the land for the project but also ensuring that there were no encroachments or disturbances to the land. Mr. Allen regarded this gesture as an exemplary act that should be emulated by others.
Mr. Allen expressed his belief that the event center is coming at an opportune time for the people of Bogoso, considering the rapid physical and demographic development happening in the Bogoso township.
He emphasized the importance of having a spacious event center that can accommodate socio-cultural and political programs of local and national significance.
The event center will serve as a community hub, offering facilities such as a community center, a mini conference hall, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a children's playground, a mini supermarket, a restaurant and bar, and caretaker's quarters.
Mr. Allen acknowledged that the task may appear challenging, but he expressed confidence that with God's guidance, the project will be successfully completed.
Dr. Isaac Dasmani, the Municipal Chief Executive, commended Nananom (the chiefs) and FGR for their initiative in contributing to the development of Bogoso.
He urged the contractor to deliver quality work and called upon the project's board to ensure the success of the project. A nine-member board, led by Chairman Nana Ogyefour Karteng, was introduced to the public to oversee the day-to-day activities of the project.
Nana Kwasi Sompreh II, the Chief of Bogoso-Kokoase Division, assured Future Global Resources of the community's full support in completing the project.
He also urged the contractor to commence work on the project as soon as possible.
