NPA CAUTIONS MOTORISTS AGAINST PURCHASING FUEL FROM TABLETOP OUTLETS
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has advised the public especially motorists against patronizing fuel being sold at tabletop outlets in the country to avoid its negative impacts.
According to the NPA the activities of the tabletop petroleum dealers are gaining prominence in the Bono, and Ahafo regions.
The Bono Regional Manager of the NPA, Kwadwo Appiah, asserts that the quality of petrol and diesel being sold at these tabletop outlets could be adulterated, and quality compromised, which could cause damages to vehicle engines.
Describing the activities of these outlets as illegal and dangerous, the Regional Manager has given a word of warning that the NPA is collaborating with the police and other stakeholders to soon clamp down and prosecute the offenders.
Mr. Appiah spoke to Onua News at a media engagement on Petroleum Pricing Formula Post Deregulation and Fuel Quality in Sunyani.
The Head of Quality Assurance at the NPA, Ubeidalah Saeed Kutia, explained that the authority has developed an electronic tracking device that monitors the movement of petroleum products to ensure that petrol and diesel are not diluted or adulterated.
However he entreated motorists not to hesitate but report to any NPA office regarding suspected contaminated fuel they purchase into their vehicles for necessary action to be taken.
