Amenfi West MP Eric Afful expresses for low Patronage of Covid 19 vaccines in his constituency.

Wassa Amenfi West Directorate together with the MP Hon. Eric Afful on Saturday 23rd July, 2022 at a press briefing expressed dissatisfaction with the Covid 19 vaccination exercise in the municipality and they both appealed to constituents go for the vaccine.

At the press conference MP said Health committee of Parliament have been going round the country to have a first hand information on how people are taking the vaccine and says the committee saw low patronage of the vaccine access the country.

The member of Parliament says he has also noted with concern the state of Covid 19 vaccination status in his Constituency being a member of the Parliamentary select committee on health.

"Records available to me from the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Health Directorate on Covid 19 vaccination indicates that so far a total of 80,963 doses have been given out for the first, second and third doses of all types of Covid vaccines (Astra, Pfizer, Janssen, and Moderna)".

He added "Persons receiving at least one dose of Covid vaccine is 50212 representing fifty-five percent (50%) of the Municipal Population target of 90,017 with a different of forty-five percent (45) of the estimated Population across the Municipality have not received a single jab''.

In view of the above trend of vaccination in the municipality, the MP is pleading with all the stakeholders like Assembly members, Pastors, church leaders, Imams, Nananom, family Heads and the media in the municipality to help in the campaign for the public to accept and go for the vaccine.

He gave a testimony of how he was denied access to his flight at Holland to USA untill he called Parliament to give documents to the airline company before he was allowed a flight to USA because he was not with his Covid 19 vaccination card.
