Melda Wins Miss Western 2022
The most impactful pageantry event in the Western Region, Miss Western 2022 ended in a grand style as Miss Matilda Arhin Carter who was known on stage as Melda was crowned the winner for the 4th edition. Melda represented the people of Tarkwa, Railway Quarters to be precise.
The grand finale of the 2022 edition of Miss Western took place at the GNAT Hall in Takoradi, the capital of Western Region.
Anas, the delegate from Essikafo Ambantem, a suburb in Takoradi emerged as the 1st Runner Up while Asankragwa's Phyllis and Beahu's Anita were 2nd and 3rd Runners Up respectively.
Melda consistently won plaudits with her performances throughout the weeks the show ran. She won the star performer on three occasions, most innovative and most creative once each.
This year’s event started with 18 delegates from various parts of the Western region after auditions in Tarkwa and Takoradi. After 13 weeks of rollercoaster performances, 10 out of the 18 delegates made it to the finale namely Phyllis, Melda, Lawrine, Pearl, Serwaah, Anita, Anas, Akosua, Jesse and Ekua Yankey.
The finale which came off at the GNAT Hall Auditorium on Saturday 23rd July, 2022 saw some top-notch performances from the likes of Afezi Perry, Phynex, Mojae, Kwaku Bany among other talented musicians from the region.
Melda, the ultimate winner of Miss Western 2022 walked home with Nissan Versa 2017 model and a Golden plaque. Anas, the 1st Runner Up also took ¢5,000.00 cash prize and a Double Decker Fridge. Phyllis and Anita had ¢3,000.00 and ¢2,000.00 cash prizes plus a flat screen Television sets for placing 2nd and 3rd Runners Up respectively.
All the four winners are going to be given souvenirs from the sponsors as well as a trip across Ghana.
Mr. Isaac Mensah, CEO of Exone Entertainment disclosed that " At no point in the competition did we the organizers or Judges have a clear idea of who is winning. This tells you how competitive this year's contest was."
"I will say the girls were respectful, obedient and intelligent with respect to their in-house attitudes and on-stage performances." - He added
Mr. Mensah thanked his team members, sponsors and the Judges for putting in their maximum efforts in making the programme a success.
Melda becomes the fourth Miss Western queen to be crowned and she unseats last year’s winner, Miss Jemima Essilfie (Jemi) who represented the people of Esuaso, a suburb in Tarkwa. For the second time in a row, delegates from Tarkwa have been crowned winners of Miss Western.
It was a night of glitz and glamour as fans at the auditorium and viewers at home were thrilled and entertained by the region’s good music and rich culture.
