BOLGATANGA PREPARATORY PRIMARY SCHOOL MARKED GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION.

The Bolgatanga Preparatory Primary School which was established on the 1st of November,1972 under the erstwhile Acheampong's government with only 41 pupils, made up of twenty-three boys and eighteen girls has observed its golden jubilee celebration with a serious call on parents to invest adequately in their wards education.
The establishment of the school was for the purpose of creating and providing good education to children whose parents accepted postings to this part of Northern Ghana and it commenced with five teachers who were handpicked from various schools within the Bolgatanga Municipality and these included ; Mr. E. A Asakyia, Mr. Salia, Mr. Paul Anachinaba ( of blessed memory), Mr. M. A Gyan and Mrs. Baagye who happened to be the first Headmistress of the school.
The current Headmistress of the school, Madam Catherine Assibi Nyaaba who stated this during the golden jubilee celebration of the school added that the illustrious dedication and service offered to the school by her predecessors remains remarkable and therefore pledged to do same.
Madam Catherine added that since she assumed leadership of the Bolgatanga Model Preparatory Primary School as Headmistress in September, 2017 with an aim of contributing to the already existing legacy that the school has and to promote quality learning outcomes for our pupils with her wealth of experience as a Headmistress.
However, this journey has not been short off many challenges and stumbling blocks that greatly affect the school.
She added that with a current total population of 1548 pupils, the Bolgatanga Model Preparatory Primary School is made up of 190 Kindergarten pupils, 900 Primary pupils and 420 pupils in the Junior High School. According to her, this figure is coupled with a total teacher population of 63 with 2 non teaching staff including a care taker for the kindergarten and a night security for the Junior High School.
She indicated that the pupil to teacher ratio shows that there exists much burden on the staff to aid pupils grow and be molded into exemplary individuals and therefore the need for the problem to be addressed swiftly.
The Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Dennis Aniakwa Balinia Adda who chaired the event and happens to be an old boy of the school charged teachers to put up their best in their line of duty.
The interim President of the Old Pupils Association of the school, Mr William Kow Dadzie, on behalf of the association congratulated all stakeholders of the school for their effort in nurturing the school to become a model of discipline from it's formative years in 1972 to its enviable state today. He thanked the Navro- Pio who happens to be one of the pioneers of the school for his immerse contribution and the entire association because without it, the renovation of the school towards the 50th anniversary celebration would not have been fruitful.
Mr Dadzie further advised pupils of the school to live exemplary lives in order to enable them achieved whatever they plan for themselves.
He further added that the renovation included the complete changing of the roofing sheets, ceilings, repairs on building, painting and so on. However the unique class of 1978, who call themselves, the Icons also painted the class six block and hope to adapt it as their project.
Deserving staff and pupils were awarded to energized others to emulate the roles they are playing in lifting the image of the school.
