Aggraved farmers of Awiafutu
Awiafutu is a farming community in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality which produces cocoa and other foodstuffs.
According to residents of Awiafutu, the only bridge on the road that links the community to other surrounding communities for business, health and communication is at the verge of collapse but there has not been any effort by the government to help fixed the bridge.
According to the farmers, cocoa buying companies and other vendors who used to come there to buy their hard end products has denied coming since they are not willing to use the long aged deplorable bridge which have taken lives of some residents. So farmers have to walk for hours to access market for their goods.
A video sighted by www.wassamaninsider.com, shows that farmers threatening to sell farms and lands to illegal minners to reduce stressed they go through before their goods get to the market.
The Assembly member for the Awiafutu electoral area, Hon Amaleba, said, issues on the bad road that link the community to the municipal Capital and other nearby areas like Prestea Nkwanta, has been addressed to the Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament, Hon. Eric Afful for many years but no action has been taking.
Farmers conclusively said, to work in vain, they will rather sell their farms to illegal minners (Galamseyers)
