In a triumph of talent and creativity, Sebastian Yalley, a graphic designer and multimedia artist, has clinched the top spot in Cape Coast Technical University's logo competition, marking the institution's 40th Anniversary. The Anniversary logo, launched on 29th February as part of the university's milestone celebrations, sought a design that captured its four decades of excellence and innovation.

Sebastian Yalley's winning entry emerged as a standout amidst a sea of 52 logo submissions embodying the essence of the university's journey and vision. Hailing from Takoradi, Sebastian's artistic journey began early in life. He studied graphic design as a pre-vocational subject from 2007 to 2009 during his Junior High School years before continuing his education in Visual Art at Komenda Senior High School from 2009 to 2013.


Transitioning to a career as a radio DJ and marketer in Takoradi, Sebastian sharpened his communication skills and visual storytelling abilities, working with esteemed stations such as Flex FM, West Gold Radio, Ahoto FM, and Maximum FM. In addition to his radio career, Sebastian also made waves as the host of a Video Mix show on Western Television, showcasing his talents in multimedia production and visual communication. His expertise in these areas led him to produce visual communication materials for notable award schemes, TV stations, and film productions, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and skilled graphics artist.

Driven by a determined passion for graphic design, Sebastian pursued higher education at Takoradi Technical University in 2019. There, he pursued a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Commercial Art, specializing in graphic design before advancing to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, majoring in Multimedia Design and Photography, and graduated with First Class honors.


Reflecting on his journey, Sebastian expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to showcase his talent and dedication. Winning Cape Coast Technical University's 40th Anniversary logo competition marked a significant milestone in his career as a graphic designer and multimedia artist, validating years of hard work and commitment.

During the unveiling ceremony, Sebastian Yalley was called upon to explain the concept behind his winning logo design. He articulated, "The objective of the 40th Anniversary logo design is to create a commemorative symbol that encapsulates Cape Coast Technical University's proud 40-year journey, highlighting its dedication to renewable energy and quality technical and vocational education."



Sebastian elaborated on the visual elements incorporated into the logo, stating, "The curved line positioned at the right side of the logo represents road symbolizing CCTU's 40-year journey in providing top-notch technical and vocational education. The iconography incorporated in the logo and positioned on the curved line depicts various schools within the university, including Business and Management Studies, Built and Natural Environment, Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Applied Arts, as well as the silhouette of graduates of CCTU, extremely excited about their academic accomplishment which contributes positively to Ghana's development and the global community."

Furthermore, Sebastian emphasized the significance of renewable energy, stating, "The imagery of a solar panel, sun, and leaf with a protruding electrical plug showcases renewable energy as CCTU's niche area, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and innovation."

As Cape Coast Technical University embarks on its 40th year of excellence in technical and vocational education, Sebastian Yalley's achievement stands as a beacon of inspiration to graphic design enthusiasts embodying his ethos of creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.
