AMENFI EAST MCE IMPLEMENTS MEASURES TO PROTECT FOREST RESERVES

In the early hours of Wednesday, 22nd June, 2022, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Amenfi East, Hon. Frederick Korankye went into the Adaamanso forest upon a tip-off that people are illegally mining in the forest.

 Adaamanso forests is one of the oldest and rich reserves Amenfi East can be proud of. On his arrival, he spotted three (3) chanfan machines that confirms that indeed, people were mining in the forest. Unfortunately, the persons involved in this illegality got a tip-off and bolted. .

Hon. Frederick Korankye is a miner and will support mining but not in our forest reserved and in our river bodies, hence promoting responsible mining.

These steps are measures he is taking in his bid to protect our forest reserves and our water bodies.

Videos and pictures of the scene have been sent to higher authorities for further action.

He is by this means advising the general public, particularly,  the people of Amenfi East to be keepers of our forest reserves and water bodies for the benefit of the current and next generation.
