The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) is collaboratng with the University of Education (Winneba) for the establishment of a Broadcasting Training Institute towards building the capacity of Ghana's Media Practitioners.
Through the organization of Sandwich Programs in Broadcast Journalism and media related courses, GIBA hopes to increase the Technical, Management and Media Development knowledge of prospective media practitioners and stakeholders.
Speaking at the 15th Annual General Meeting of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, GIBA President, Cecil Thomas Nee Lantey Sunkwa - Mills, said his outfit is also liaising with the Ministry of Information , The Ghana Police Service, National Media Commission (NMC), Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), and the Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), to implement a framework for effective Police and Media Relations towards national security. The program was held at the Plush Golden Sunbean Hotel in Kumasi.
GIBA'S 2022 Annual General Meeting was to take stock of private media performance, ensure Media Accountability and to streamline activities of the private media in Ghana.
The GIBA PRESIDENT urged all Ghanaians especially, the Security Agencies and other stakeholders to invest the safety of Journalists and advocated a sanitized media landscape based on Ethical Practices on the part of Ghanaian Journalists.
Cecil Sunkwa - Mills also reiterated GIBA's support for the Digital Migration of Radio and Television Stations in the country.
