The Ministry of Energy this afternoon, received the Ambassador of Switzerland to Ghana, Her Excellency Simone Giger. The discussions centered on Ghana’s partnership with the Swiss government in the energy sector. They, among others, discussed their operations through their donor agency SECO in the context of the Scaling Up Renewable Energy Project (SREP)

     (Her Excellency Simone Giger)

During the Minister of Energy's remarks He indicated government’s keenness in ensuring that the project live up to expectation, mobilizing financial resources to catalyze investment in renewable energy solutions as well as increasing access to clean and reliable electricity services to support Ghana’s energy transition efforts. He placed particular emphasis on the net metering project under the SREP.

The Net Metering Solar PV (NMPV) project under the broader project will deliver 12,000 units of roof-mounted net-metered solar PV systems to reduce the public sector electricity debt, impact positively on the Energy Sector Recovery Program (ESRP) and, improve energy security for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and households in the urban areas.

Whilst expressing gratitude to the Swiss government for their support to the energy sector thus far, He reiterated the clear blue-print our energy transition framework provides in the context of their project and called for a deepened partnership.

As sector Minister, He remains committed to ensuring the energy security of our country and will continue to lead strategic collaborative drives in the interest of our country.
