The Municipal Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly, Hon Frederick Korankye (K.K/ ADWUMAWURA) has, this afternoon, donated 25 portable sewing machines worth Twenty Five thousand ( Ghc 25,000 cedis) and Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc 2,000) cash to the Tailors and Dressmakers Association - Wassa Akropong Branch.
The donation was done at the 30th Anniversary and 23rd Annual Graduation Ceremony held at the forecourt of the Dunwell Methodist Church, Wassa Akropong.
Delivering his speech in a short but colourful event, Hon. Korankye disclosed that, his administration has partnered with the Wassa Amenfi East Youth Authority to revive the center with a donation of over 100 portable sewing machines in addition to assisting a number of needy youths to receive skills training in hairdressing and dressmaking.
Hon. Korankye advised the graduates to take advantage of the YouthStart program to enable them to received some entrepreneurship training and business start up capital. He disclosed that eight (8) youths from Amenfi East are currently undergoing training under the Youthstart program and will be given some capital after the training to set up their businesses.
Hon. Frederick Korankye further advised the graduates to also take advantage of a program currently being run by GIFEC in basic ICT training to enable them use social media platforms to market their products...
Hon. Korankye brought his speech to an end by pledging his continuous support to the Youth in skills training so that the youth who are not benefiting from the Free SHS flagship program can equally benefit from the Nana Addo-led NPP government.
The leadership of the Wassa Akropong branch of Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association were very grateful to Hon. Frederick Korankye for the kind gesture and promised to distribute the machines to needy youths who are willing to undergo training in dressmaking.
