HEALTH EXPERT URGES GES TO DEVELOP AND TEACH CURRICULA ON EMERGENCY RESPONSE MANAGEMENT IN SCHOOLS

A Registered Nurse at the SAMARTEX HOSPITAL and certified by the American Heart Association, Mrs. Millicent Quaidoo, is advocating the development and teaching of a curricula on Emergency Response Management in Ghanaian Schools. She believes a comprehensive education on the management of electrical shocks, drowning and sudden cardiac arrests, among others, would enable pupils and students to contribute their quota in solving emergency health situations in remote communities before seeking medical intervention from accredited institutions.  

Millicent Quaidoo, who also teaches at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Asankrangwa, lamented profusely about the high loss of human lives during emergency situations in our local communities due to what she called ‘Endemic Ignorance’ among Ghanaians on Managing Emergency Health Situations. 

With ten years experience as a health professional whose specialty includes emergency health response and management , Millicent Quaidoo also called for the establishment of Emergency Response Clubs in our schools and local communities. She was speaking on  “Green Gold in the Morning “, a social development focused Morning Show with Kaakyire Kofi Badu on Samreboi based Green Gold FM.  Mrs. Millionen Quaidoo is also the Deputy CEO of Tarkwa based Rainbow Montessori School. She wants government and all stakeholders in education to consider investigating in Educating school children on emergency response methods in critical health situations. 

The Health Expert also implored churches and community based organizations to invite emergency health response professionals in order to enhance public education on how to deal with emergency health situations.
