Distinguished Invited Guests, based on an earlier discussion between myself, the Council Chairman and the Chief Fire Officer, and the Nananom of Bogoso Divisional Area, it became imperative for a Modern Fire Station and a Fire Training School to be constructed to provide a fire cover to protect the good people of Bogoso from the menace of fires and allied emergencies.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the importance of a Fire Station cannot be under emphasized, and I must admit that we appreciate the immense effort of the Traditional Council of the area for allocating huge plots of land to the Ghana National Fire Service and a financial commitment towards the project.

Distinguished Invited Guests, as a Government, we are very committed to the Ghana National Fire Service and its expansion drive.

Over the years, the contribution of the Ghana National Fire Service towards protecting lives and properties has been very commendable.

The Service recorded a total of Two Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty-three (2,683) fires from January to April, 2023 nationwide as compared to Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-three (2,873) fires for the same period in 2022. A decrease by 190 fires representing 6.61%. This is no mean achievement by the Service which calls for the support of all to ensure that our communities are safe from fires by observing basic fire safety protocols on our premises.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I will like to use this opportunity to call on other Traditional Councils to emulate this tremendous move by the Bogoso Divisional Area and to compliment the efforts of Government to empower and expand the infrastructure base of the Ghana National Fire Service.

Nananom, Distinguished Invited Guests, it is commendable to note that, the Chief Fire Officer, Julius Kuunuor has really exceeded our expectation and it is our hope that, we will see more of such improvements within the Service in the coming days with your continuous support.

Once again, I say a very big thank you to the Divisional Council and all Stakeholders for this great feat. Let us all see the realization of this all important project".
