Government has been called upon to speed up the provision of logistics to NCCE Directorates at the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to enhance public education on the roles and responsibilities of Ghanaian Members of Parliament.

Mr. Peter Dyaka, Director of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), said in an interview on Asankrangwa based Royal FM that, there is an urgent need for effective public education on the legislative and civic roles of members of Parliament.

Speaking on “KNOW IT RIGHT”, a segment of the station’s “Yeresua Ade3” Morning Show with Sir Richmond Antwi Boasiako, the NCCE Director also called for the amendment of portions of the National Constitution in order to give proper meaning to the functional roles and responsibilities of MPs.
To him, misconceptions about the development agent role of MPs are gradually overcoming their core mandate of law making, Representation and oversight responsibilities of government, saying that a well -equipped NCCE could easily resolve this challenge through effective public education, especially in rural Ghana.
