A gender based NGO, ABANTU for Development has held a workshop aimed at training identified women and women’s organizations on gender analysis and gender mainstreaming of Civil Society Organizations (CSOS), private sector operators and other stakeholders in relation to local biological resources, and their conservation for Nature Based Solutions (NBS), in Wassa Amenfi.

ABANTU focuses on gender and climate issues affecting the globe, gender and governmental policies to influence and promote sustainable development, and the promotion and implementation of peace building policies towards national and international security for proper governance.

Speaking at the seminar at Asankrangwa in the Amenfi West Municipality of Ghana's Western Region, Mrs. Grace Ampoma Afrifa, Head of Programs at ABANTU for Development, criticized gender stereotyping at all levels and called for governmental intervention and investments in the promotion of quality understanding of gender concepts.

The NGO seeks to promote attention on recognizing gender discrimination as the key obstacle to sustainable development and social justice.
Grace Ampoma Afrifa educated participants on gender terminologies, promoting Women's Rights, Affirmative Action and Gender Analysis.

"We are not seeking to dominate men but national systems and institutions must embrace women's rights, talents and abilities to enhance development at all levels", the NGO practitioner opined.
